Speaking to CNET at E3 last week, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that the platform holder is hoping to win over the Halo audience with titles such as The Conduit, Dead Space and Tiger Woods with Wii MotionPlus.

"The near-term opportunity is the consumer who owns a PS3 or an Xbox 360 and has been bad-mouthing Wii to their friends. We can reach that consumer with games like The Conduit or Tiger Woods with Wii Motion Plus," said Fils-Aime.

He added: "We think we win over the Halo audience with something like The Conduit, a multi-player, online, shooting experience, or Dead Space Extraction. And you know what? Once those people buy into Wii, they'll go buy Mario Kart or Wii Fit Plus."

PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers, is Reggie right? Do those titles make you want a Wii? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

You need to learn what 'generic' means.

So, motion control is a novelty when Nintendo do it, but a Nintendo killer when Sony and MS do it? Yeah, nice biased thinking there. Incidentally, those exact same developers who are under-utilising the Wiimote will under-utilise Natal and Wagglewand to the same degree. The technology is not to blame, it is developers failing to take advantage of the potential that leads to needless waggle.

3 years ago the internet was full of vocal nerds proclaiming that the Wii is a stupid name for a stupid console with a stupid gimmick that nobody will buy. 2 years ago the cries had changed, and were now proclaiming it a flash in the pan. 1 year ago I was reading that all these casual and minigames were killing the industry. And today I am reading that MS and Sony are going to do it all much better, as if somehow their casual and minigames are more acceptable. Throughout all of this I have had the exact same opinion : I will play whatever the hell I want to play, on whatever system I want to.

Guess which one of us is closer to the majority of views out there in the world? And then realise just WHY the Wii continues to sell so well.

I'm glad you feel qualified to speak for 'most people'. There are a few million who may disagree with you though.

I really don't know what Nintendo did to you to make you feel so bitter about them, I'm sure it wasn't pretty. The rest of us who do enjoy the Wii as much as the other consoles can carry on enjoying it, knowing that there are a vast array of game styles and games which we can choose from which are not on other consoles.

As for the controllers, I agree, the proof is in the retail software that uses them. Nintendo developers have already shown and are about to ship Motion Plus software. I'd be interested to see the software from MS and Sony that you talk about for their respective devices, other than the tech demos on show at E3.

"they're not games that you want to play (all HD FPS games by the sound of it)"

no the games i play arent just fps. fallout 3, uncharted, burnout, grid, little big planet, flower, tekken online, Brain challange, wipeout and skate to name a few.

me, i'm into all sorts of games but the limitations of the nintendo wii doesnt do it for me, most people like large environments for their rpgs or destructible environments for their fps/3rd person games and where do you find them? not on the wii but on the hd consoles and the pc. people want more and thats what sony and 360 and pc developers are giving, whereas nintendo are releasing the same and same old sh*te like mario and sonic with a few new additions like mad world but wont last long enough to be "great" exclusive games because of the limitations. and now with project natal and the sony motion controller nintendo are going to die out because of what the ps3 and 360 can handle, if nintendo think that the little add on will do anything then they can think again, its not about precision with the controller but what you can do with it.

simply put the wii games are becoming generic e.g. the constant pokemon remakes but with stupid names that are exactly the same, and now the ps3 and 360 are going to take over.

I'd say that Reggie was wrong about bringing the Halo crowd, but that Wii owners will lap it up.

As for the Wii being a novelty console, rubbish. It's got more variety and many top quality games in its line up, just because they're not games that you want to play (all HD FPS games by the sound of it) it doesn't mean millions of other people don't want them.

At the end of the day, gaming is first and foremost about the gameplay and how FUN games are to play. Everything else comes second to this.

That is kind of my point, Tom. I am saying that the PS3 and 360 have too many FPS games. Understand that I have nothing against the genre, having been playing it since Wolfenstein. But sometimes I am looking for something different. If I am limiting myself to one of the HD consoles, then I am also limiting my choice of game experience. The Wii also has FPS, regardless of how good they may be compared to the 360 and PS3. Whereas the HD duo don't also have platformers, or lightgun shooters, or point-and-click adventures.

My list of Wii exclusive games contained a veritable slew of unique experiences. I don't want to have three consoles under my TV, I would much rather have just one. But I currently need at least two, because there is stuff on the Wii that simply doesn't exist on either of the others.

if your talking about clone games then your defending the wrong console mate. how many crappy mario and sonic games have there been on the nintendo systems? there basically the mascots of the console at least the ps3 and xbox and pc are getting variations of the fps genre, i mean COD4, Killzone 2, L4D all great games...all fps games.

The conduit is basically TimeShift, and timeshift aint that great a game. Most people see the Wii as a novelty system, so developers probably see it as a novelty too hence the extreme lack of DLC and other stuff for Nintendo owners.

BTW this isnt a hobby for me, its a career or will be in the next few years ;)

on the exclusive note iv enjoyed a few wii games but i still play my PS3 exclusives way more maby its just me but the only exclusive wii games iv liked are ssbb, mario galaxy, and legend of zelda twilight princess, also iv played all the games on lee's list so while i think the wii needs to get a little bit away from mario i dont think fps games are the way to atract hardcore auddences.

I wasn't saying those games were better than the PS3 or 360 exclusives. ('Better' is entirely subjective.) I was saying that in amongst all those games is plenty of fun, that you can NOT find on the other two consoles. In terms of game experience, Killzone 2 = Halo 3 = Resistance 2 = Gears of War 2. Gran Turismo 5 = Forza 3. I don't actually need to own a PS3 AND a 360, as the two are more or less interchangeable. But, I do need to own a Wii, as it has more of those games that step out of the comfort zone and actually try something else than the other two combined.

You all hate Mario Kart, which is fine. I don't hate it. The problem is that I can't find anything like it on 360 or PS3. And, since it has sold 14 million copies, perhaps I should be able to?

May I remind you of Killzone on the PS2, it was acclaimed as the Halo killer but in reality it was an average FPS at best. Also Reggie is too good, there was a video on youtube somewhere of him standing outside the mario galaxy booth, watching someone play and nodding his head in satisfaction.

A bit of a silly comment to make for the awesomeness of the Reggienator. He can't predict what consumers are going to like at all - I think we all need to play it first. I agree with Bloodstorm slightly that he's full of himself.

Lol at some of these posts though.

@Renegade - you really shouldn't be comparing games you haven't played (that's if you know anything about them to) to ones you have. Seems utterly pointless because you're judging Wii games by its reputation as only being able to cater a family audience.
@Wido - "Reggie has failed this year." erm, yeah. How so? The Conduit isn't even out yet so how can you be so conclusive?
@K3RT - UR SYSTEM SUX!1 But on a serious note, Mario Kart Wii was suckage - and I commend you for that.

I guess we have to wait for The Conduit to be released now.
