Super Swing Golf Features for Wii

On: Wii
Back to game info

Welcome to Heads-up, VideoGamer.com's weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Tuesday we'll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday's post. Time to splash the cash.

Recommendation of the Week: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, DS, PSP
We have to admit that we're suckers for EA's golf series. Having already sunk hours into a pre-release version of Tiger 09 on PS3 we can't wait for the final retail disc to arrive so it's very easy to recommend the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Tiger 09. With improved visuals, tweaked controls, a new coach mode and enhanced GamerNet features this year's edition seems pretty stacked. The game is also due for release on Wii, PS2, PSP and DS, with the Wii game looking most likely to sell to the masses. We've yet to get our mitts on those though, so buy at your own risk.

Also out this week
Too Human, Xbox 360: Reviewing Too Human gave Wez quite a headache. He found the game to be pretty terrible and incredibly addictive at the same time. The storyline is weak, the graphics engine is un-optimised and the camera is woeful, but there's an awful lot of loot. If you like collecting loot you'll find Too Human saps away hours like a Wraith consumes human life force. The game isn't even that long, but getting to the end of the story isn't nearly all the game has to offer. It might not be the incredible gaming experience it was billed as, but once you're hooked it's hard to let go.

Hey about the storything in Too Human.
Dude dey hav not at all gone parallel to the norse mythology.
Baldor's the god that is supposed to be kind and the most tender of all norse gods not a sword weilding(or a gun for that matter) barbarian.
And anyways baldor dies even before the battle of the god begins , actually the battle starts BECAUSE baldor dies ( accidently killed by Loki , Now seriously , it was an accident.Loki = not famous for non-hazardous pranks)

Thought i just point that out.And anyways , i wud hav Preferred HEIMDALL instead of Loki because he was one of the greatest Norse BattleGods and the Gaurdian to the path to the Valhalla.( i.e a rainbow bridge)

Although the exact copy of the mythology into a game is irrelevant ; some little changes are always preffered but Too Human suffers from the same thing that crriplled Hellgate London.

Both promised epic stories with sacrifices , deaths and mature story but in the end the only thing we got was " a few more options in the skill tree" as put by Dear Mr Wes.Hellgate's intro video was soo damn good i was itching to try tht out but sadly both gameplay \ story turned out to be chhildish. But that game too had the fun factor of collecting booty and it showcased some really cool looking armours for different classes -Rohan

I'm boycotting Tiger Woods on the grounds that I've already bought 5 of the PGA games and '07 had too many freezing issues on the 360 which has put me off for life.

I highly recommend Too Human though, if you're an ex-Diablo II loot junky or looking for a highly addictive and replayable loot-fest then you can't really go wrong. I'd argue that the storyline is awesome if you read up on Norse Myth beforehand because what Silicon Knights have done to the original storyline will make you go 'Woah!' in places, the camera is fine if you let it do it's job rather than trying to fight it, and being picky about optimisation is strictly reviewer territory, if you love the game you won't notice nor will you care. Not often I disagree with Wes, but this is a big exception.

I followed Too Human's launch in the US, I'd guess roughly 95% that bought it would agree that the reviews got it completely wrong and seriously underrated the game. The demo is up on XBox Live Marketplace with 3 playable classes (Berserker, Champion and Commando) and if the gameplay grabs you after playing all three then it's a no-brainer.

And seriously: Lining up a 5ft putt on the 17th with a dodgy knee or wading into 40 goblins with your badass 2069 damage Raging Axes of the Merciless with 1% Gravitation Pulse proc and Mastery: Unrelenting Blade +1? No contest.

Plus it's the first in a trilogy, rather than the 19th(?) in a long string of golf games. If you haven't got any golf games, get both :)
