Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Choosing our favourite games of 2010 was no easy task, with arguments, witchcraft and mathematical equations all being used to take hundreds of games and whittle them down to just 10. Mario Galaxy 2 probably suffered a bit due to being released so early in the year, with lots of my best memories being cemented over by more recent triple-A monsters. Thinking back, though, it's so clearly the best game on the Wii, with level after level of pure imagination and exquisite platforming. It might look cute, but later levels are ridiculously punishing, really testing your gaming skills. As far as 3D platformers go, this is undoubtedly the finest on the market.

For some reason I can't quite pinpoint, I don't tend to play Galaxy for anything longer than about 30 to 40 minutes at a time. I never binge on this the way I used to with the older Mario games; instead I consume it in glorious bitesize chunks, working through two or three stars in a session. Has any game, ever, managed to deliver such consistently entertaining, original levels? I don't think so. Super Mario Galaxy 2 isn't just the top of its class - it's one of the all-time greats.

I have to make a conscious and metered effort to not fly off the handle at other games when discussing Mario Galaxy 2, but Jesus Christ this makes almost all other games look like tiresome, homogenous blurs of washed-out metal textures and grubby brown textures. Playing Mario Galaxy 2 makes me feel like I'm seeing in colour for the very first time. And also the platforming is very good and there's a lot of variety and yadda yadda yadda yadda.

Besides which, if opinions are never wrong, then surely you can afford me the privilege of stating my own without jumping on it just once? After all, you have never seen me call you an elitist weeaboo prick because of your love for Mother 3. Face it, the game is nothing more than Mother 2.5, and is only raved about because it isn't available outside of Japan.
I wouldn't do something like that, because it's just my opinion.

"Today I am reviewing COD Blops: This game is sizzling. I give it a 5, outta 5. Don't be a douche bra! Live the dream and buy this game for your mother, your brother, and your sista!"

So let's try and talk about Mario Galaxy 2 now? I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to. The first was better in every possible respect - notably music and level design - and the 242nd star was just stupid. I'm not playing it through again just so I can get 1000 star bits to get a star for completing the last level without dying. There MUST be a way of cheating it :(
[edit] And whoever was playing in the video needs to use more long jumps ;p

I posted my opinion without any relation to anyone else and then I got 'jumped on'. I haven't said anything about your opinion on whatever.
Sorry Lee, but opinions are subjective, which means they will always be true for that individual. Of course they can be ethically wrong, which is what I think you're saying but opinions of how fun video games are don't have ethical values, so the example you gave is meaningless.

Facts are facts. They cannot be argued, because it is a fact.
Opinions can be wrong, they can be argued. It is a point of view.
Therefore decide which one the "debatable" statement is and either argue to your hearts content. Or accept you are wrong.
Endless
In my opinion lots of people opinions are wrong.
In my opinion the earth revolves around the moon.
In my opinion buying a an Apple Mac is a waste of money.
In my opinion there are lots of games not in the top ten that should be.
Some can be proven wrong, others can be argued one way or the other. All opinions. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, sure, but they can still be proven wrong or right. Just because someone cant make you change your mind, does not make your opinion right by proxy.

Haven't played a Mario game for god knows how long and I don't regret that either. Games like that tend to have a very short lifespan with me. Just my personal taste nothing more nothing less.
Basically, I'm of the opinion that p0rtalthinker's mum must make a mean casserole for him to mention it in his post.
Rock on casserole!!!

I didn't play SMG so my opinion doesn't hold that much weight, but I believe under no circumstances should you dis other peoples views just because it doesn't mirror your own. People should have a right to express their opinions freely, whether it be politics, religion, gaming or what they thought of their moms casserole last night.
Even though we might not care (or care very little) about your opinion about SMG (me perhaps a bit more than people who have played it), it's still an opinion so I think you totally should be able to express it; but dissing other people for just disagreeing with you is, to say the least, childish and very typical of gamers around my age (sadly).
On a side note, all hail Mastor Woffls! :D

Mario galaxy is not crap,it's very good. Even the Edge mag gave it a 10. I'm sure you are the kind of guy who likes to hang on to Edges every word.
....hmmmmn That sound familiar..... :shifty:
Look Mr Stickers man, nobody here is nobody here is questioning your opinion on if how much you like the galaxy games or not. Every one is open to their own opinion, what really annoys us is the way you share your views.
Calling mario galaxy overated (which me and 87 rather important other people disagree with) is something that will obviously spark a flame war. Being able to write in full sentences means you have some intelligence so you must be able to state your veiw without hurting people. You could of easily have said "from my experiences I prefer LBP over this but this is still a good". Please before writing next time.... (by the way I have nothing against LBP, its a good game I just prefer mario)
...also don't dis God or the pope will have words with you

I'm guessing the reason you struggled with the controls is because you aren't used to playing Wii? Probably because you think Nintendo is for kids. What levels were in Mario Galaxy that we've seen a million times before? And no, walking over pixel Mario doesn't count.
I didn't say LBP was crap, I said the gameplay mechanics were - specifically mentioning platforming. In fact, Edge put this in their review Quote:If you think LBP had better platforming than SMG then you need help.
Edge don't dislike Sony. They just often give scores that give them a lot of attention and piss people off. And for the record, I can't remember the last time an Edge review influenced my decision to buy a game. Their reviews don't mean much to me.

Luckily Woffls is not a deity, even if you want to kneel before him.
Guess what?people can like different things without babies spitting their dummies out.
Waaah!Waaah!it's not fair he doesn't think Mario Galaxy is a 10.

Galaxy 2 I've only played a bit,but again I played for my son and had little desire myself.
Dipsticks isn't a swear word,I think you're allowed that.
LBP is not crap,it's very good.Even the Sony disliking Edge mag gave it a 10.I'm sure a guy like you hangs on Edges every word.
