NoA boss Reggie Fils-Aime has said that hardcore Nintendo fans are "truly insatiable" and that despite showing what it considers to be a "plethora" of games to satisfy core gamers it "doesn't seem like it's enough".

Nintendo has come in for some flak in recent years from core fans who feel left behind by its focus on the casual market. Nintendo's press conference at E3 in July was widely panned for its lack of core titles and a hilarious Wii Music presentation.

However, Fils-Aime told VentureBeat that Nintendo had shown enough games for core fans to satisfy them.

He said: "The gaming enthusiast that buys a tremendous amount of games is truly insatiable. As an example, in March, we launched Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In April, we launched Mario Kart. In later April, we launched Wii Fit. Then, in July, at E3, they say, 'where are the games?' They say they want the next Mario game. 'Super Mario Galaxy' isn't even a year old yet. We believe today that we have shown a plethora of games and genres that can satisfy the most casual to the most core. Even that doesn't seem like it's enough."

Is Reggie right? Has Nintendo done enough to satisfy hardcore gamers? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Blood and Gore hardly makes a game 'mature' (I'd argue quite the opposite) but they could certainly do some intelligent Shenmue/Dreamfall style story-led adventures, with puzzles and such based around the Wiimote interface.

instead of doing the same "hardcore"games they should concentrate more on reviving original franchises such as kid icarus,or come up with original, mature games with blood, gore, and romance along with a huge dose of difficulty.

Nintendo have given their usual level of decent-enough first-party support for their platform, and have been backed up by the usual lack of third-party support , at least where 'core' games and gamers are concerned.

Simply put, there aren't enough non-Nintendo developed hardcore games on their console. Which is hardly a new phenomenon.
