New Super Mario Bros. Wii begins well in Japan

422,000 units on day one.
According to reports, Nintendo's New Super Mario Bros. Wii came racing out of the blocks in Japan, selling 422,000 units on day one of its release.
The game is in strong company though. In their first week on sale Super Mario Galaxy sold 256,000 units, Mario Kart Wii sold 608,000 units, Super Smash Bros. Brawl 816,000 units and New Super Mario Bros on the DS shifted a huge 900,000 units.
