Rock Band 3 out this holiday season
Promises to revolutionise the music genre.
Speaking at the Credit Suisse Group Global Media and Communications Conference, Viacom president and CEP Philippe Dauman has confirmed Rock Band 3 for release this holiday season.
Dauman's reveal was quickly followed by tweets from members of the Harmonix development team and an update on the Rock Band Facebook page:
"Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season! The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionise the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!"
The promise of a revolutionary game suggests we'll be looking at more than a polished version of what's come before, but exactly what remains a mystery.
Expect more details over the coming months.

Personally i've been going through Guitars like mad since i first started on the games way back with RB1 (2 RB1 strats, 1 RB2 strat) and all have come up with something or another. Both whammys of the RB1 strats gave out and the strum bar of the RB2 is starting to be wonky now, i may have to crack it open to repair the darn thing.
Anyways on to Beatles: Rock Band, HMX WANTED to make The Beatles exportable, but the ONLY way to make the game even a possibility was to make it where it wasn't exportable.
As for RB3, the fact that we will once more be able to export all tracks and Green Day will make it a full house, including the near daily (or daily) releases on the Rock Band network. This is getting almost too awesome

As for DLC You're reight HMX is a lot better at providing music for these games I suppose my real gripe is with the "Hero" franchise.

Beatles was never going to sell well once they made the mistake of not being able to import the tracks over to play with your current set list - a mistake that I doubt HMX will make again. - (I for one was looking forward to adding these tracks to my existing set list, but would never spend an evening playing just Beatles tracks, therefore I didn't buy it).
You can't even really use the argument that it could just be DL content as this is one area HMX have never let slip.
I just think before people start slagging them down they should wait and see.
Of course it's not going to sell to the extent of MW2 and the likes but it will sell enough to keep the genre going for people that still enjoy it - as I said before people who don't enjoy it - don't play it.

AC/DC Rock Band
Lego Rock Band
Beatles Rock Band
That's not to mention Guitar Heroes almost identicle game churning out:
World Tour
Guitar Hero 5
Band Hero
Guitar Hero : Van Halen
Guitar Hero: Metallica
All of which play a similar style. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the games but the low take up of Rock Band Beatles proves to me that the genre is running on a flat.
If there should be rockband news this should be it:

PS I am secretly waiting for the Green Day Rock Band Rumoured for this year.

If you don't like the games - don't play them - simple.
Maybe there is a third one coming out simply because it has been two years since RB2 and in 2 years there are x million new users to the consoles who may have never got round to experiencing the RB games. Therefore there will be instrument packs released with newer versions of the old style instruments - and with any luck a wireless drum kit, which has been available in the states since RB2's release.
Will this game inovate - I doubt it - will it be fun - as always depends on how strong the track listing is.

If that doesn;t satisfy your need for a new, different type of music game, then you're too picky mate.

They should follow Activision's lead and look to them as an example. If they make all these different instruments and different games, well the music games are over saturated enough.
There's no need for new instruments.
To change the way that they work now would be utterly ridiculous. They'd lose a massive fan base and I can bet a lot that they would never fundamentally change them.
All they would ever be is a redesign! Why would you want another redesign!?

Why would they need to release new instruments?
The ones out atm work just fine, what could they change to make them 'new'.
The Beatles ones (the ones I own) are just a redesign, and that's all they can do... They can't completely change how they work.
If they were to release new instruments, I'd be quite annoyed tbh.
