Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at last week's DICE Summit, Cohen, Ubisoft's vice president of publishing, revealed the company's plans to focus on new IPs and thus have a more secure future.

Cohen said that the company is currently producing three new IPs every three years, noting that "every year, you're going to be seeing something that's going to be brought out by Ubisoft."

This is seen as a vital part of the publisher's future, Cohen stating, "If we can keep doing that, they're sustainable, and they're ours. We can take them with us no matter where we go."

Cohen points towards successful Ubisoft owned IP such as Red Steel, Assassin's Creed and Rayman, noting that you can't take them away from the company.

Ubisoft didn't get to where it is now with only new IP though, and will continue to publish licensed video games - Lost and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are just two licensed video games coming from Ubisoft in 2007. The publisher's portfolio also heavily features games using the Tom Clancy license; Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell are all massive franchises for the company.
