Speaking in a recent Q&A, Yannis Mallet, head of Ubisoft Montreal, spoke of the company's ambition to be the second biggest third-party publisher, behind EA, by 2012:

"We are going to keep our winning strategy, which is to put our creativity and innovation at the heart of our creations - making good quality games which surprise the market and consumers," said Mallet. "We have a reputation for quality and this Ubisoft seal of innovation and quality is the key, definitely, to accessing consumers. Our strategy objective is to be the number two publisher within five years."

Ubisoft is heavily supporting Nintendo's new console, Wii, with a number of platform exclusives including Red Steel, which will be available at the European launch of the console on December 8. The eagerly anticipated Rainbow 6: Vegas for current and next generation consoles is also due on December 1, and we'll be reviewing it in the near future.
