Mario Party 8 for the Wii will stick to the series' roots, albeit with plenty of remote waggling.

Mario Party 8 was unveiled on Nintendo's website back in September, and the game has now been seen at the Nintendo World event in Japan. At its heart the game will follow the same board game and mini-game mechanics as seen in previous Mario Party titles.

Mini-games will of course take advantage of the Wii remote, so expect to be doing plenty of shaking, tilting, steering, rotating, shooting and even some lassoing. Cast members said to be present in the game include Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Wario, Waluigi and Toad. There'll also be a selection of hidden characters that players will have to find.

Mario Party 8 is scheduled to arrive at some point in 2007.
