Nintendo has announced that global software sales for its Wii and Nintendo DS platforms reached 204 million and 197 million units respectively worldwide in the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009.
Particular highlights for the year:
Pokemon Platinum - 3.75 million
Kirby Super Star Ultra - 2.36 million
Brain Training 1 & 2 combined - 7.31 million (31.12 million lifetime)
Wii Fit - 16.37 million (18.22 lifetime)
Mario Kart - 15.4 million
Animal Crossing: City Folk/Let's Go to the City - 3.38 million
Wii Music - 2.65 million
Nintendo notes that these titles contributed to a rise in console software in this fiscal year, with the number of million-seller titles life-to-date (including third-party publishers) having increased from 26 last year to 54.
For the current fiscal year, which began April 1, 2009, Nintendo projects software sales of 220 million on Wii and 180 million on Nintendo DS.
