EA's American Football title shifts almost 3 million units and it's only popular in the US.
According to Top Global Markets, a monthly report from leading providers of consumer and retail information in the video games industry, The NPD Group, GfK Chart-Track Limited and Enterbrain, Inc., EA's Madden NFL 09 was the best-selling video game of Q3 2008 (July-September 2008).
Madden NFL 09 sold a combined 2,994,000 units in the US, UK and Japan, although only 36,000 units were sold in the UK and Japan. Second is Wii Fit, with combined sales of 2,089,000 units. Unlike Madden, the split across territories is more spread - 1.28 million in the US, 460,000 in the UK and 346,000 in Japan.
LucasArts' Star Wars: The Forced Unleashed ranks as the third best-seller - 1.4 million in the US and 321,000 in the UK. Pokemon Platinum places at No.4 with sales of 1.48 million, despite only being available in Japan, and Mario Kart closes the Top 5 with 1.47 million units - 856,000 in the US, 394,000 in the UK and 218,000 in Japan.
