Nintendo says Wii owners aren't only after 'smaller mini-game compilations or first-party titles'.

It's wrong to assume Wii owners only want games put out by Nintendo or titles offering mini-games, Nintendo's UK head of communications Rob Saunders has told MCV.

The platform holder has highlighted Activision's GoldenEye 007 as proof that a good game with support from the publisher can achieve success on Wii.

"The sales of GoldenEye show that these titles can and do perform well on Wii," said Saunders.

"The idea that Wii owners are only after smaller mini-game compilations or first-party titles isn’t true.

"A good quality title, supported well by both publisher and retail, has just as much chance of performing well as any Nintendo title."

VideoGamer.com Analysis

We're yet to find out sales figures for GoldenEye. The game launched in the UK on November 5 and charted at No.13, dropping to No.20 in its second week. That's by no means a flop, but it doesn't strike us as being particularly successful either.

Goldeneye might as well be first-party, however much they dress it up. it's pretty much a console-defining game.

Agree entirely Rogue - I wouldn't have bought this were it not GoldenEye. I like it but it's nowhere near as fun or silly as the original, it's too much like CoD. And I have those on PS3...

I think if it wasn't for the Classic IP/brand name, this would just be a pretty bog standard FPS which few people would enjoy and hardly anyone would have bought. Kinda like 'The Conduit'.

I put that down to the fact the black ops was also released a few day later which is also another Activision game. So i imagine that this would have had an impact. I personally recomend that if your a wii owner you should go out and buy this game.
