GoldenEye outselling Modern Warfare on Wii
Off to a good start, says Activision.
Activision's GoldenEye 007, the game based on the 1995 movie, is earning favourable reviews, and according to early figures is attracting decent sales, too.
Speaking to investors during Activision's third-quarter earnings call last night, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said: "This title has only been out for a few days, but it's already out selling last year's Modern Warfare as Wii SKU for the comparable period."
GoldenEye 007 is out today for Wii and Nintendo DS.

Obviously we don't actually have an idea of the quantity of sales for GoldenEye, but managing to outsell Modern Warfare - albeit on the platform on which the game isn't a huge seller - is a positive sign.
It does, however, feel a little bit like Activision is putting a spin on sales by making the comparison to one of the biggest video game franchises of all time.

It's not really a fair comparison if you ask me. Modern Warfare Reflex was ported, and I would think many people would have avoided it because they picked up the better version when it first came out on the 360/PS3 only one year before. Goldeneye, although HDified from the N64, is still a Nintendo exclusive and therefore if you want to play this game on your 40" widescreen you will need to buy the Wii version.
I guess we'll need firm sales figures to see if God was right or not.

Goldeneye has the nostalgia and the more interesting bait than the re-skinned Cod .
