Excite Truck News

For:Wii Release Date: 16 February 2007

Datel, the company behind the GameCube's Freeloader tool, is working to bypass the region locking present in the Wii.

It's been well publicised that the GameCube Freeloader disc works for GameCube games on the Wii, but playing imported Wii games is a no go. However, Datel is hard at work on a Wii tool that will allow the playing of import Wii games.

"All we can say at present is watch this space - we're working on it, and if it's possible, you'll be the first to know," reads a post on Datel's Codejunkies website.

If early releases are anything to go by then unlocking the Wii to play games from other regions is something PAL gamers will want. North American Wii launch title Excite Truck has been handed a three-month release delay, and won't appear on shelves here until February 16. Trauma Centre: Second Opinion is also waiting for its PAL release.

If this happens to more hyped Nintendo releases - Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy - PAL gamers might explode from the wait.
