If you can't scrape together the £40 needed to purchase Donkey Kong Country Returns on Friday, then a limited offer taking place at selected GAME and Gamestation stores is for you.

The first 20 people in line to buy DKC Returns at either GAME's Oxford Street store, GAME's Merry Hill store in Dudley or Gamestation in Hull's Prospect Centre will be given the opportunity to buy the game with nothing more than a bunch of bananas.

The GAME stores open at 9am, while Gamestation Hull will be letting customers in from 8am.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

If you're brave enough to sit out in the cold in order to pick up the game for the price of a bunch of bananas then you're made of stronger stuff than us.

Look out for a review tomorrow.

I didn't know about this offer when I went to Game this morning on my way into work to pick up DKR...I got to the counter and saw some real bananas on the counter, i thought something was suspicious so asked what the deal was.

Anyway, i legged it to tescos and bought 4 bananas (for 7p...crazy in itself) and then legged it back and they handed over the game for free. It was 9:30 and they still had about 13 copies left. The cold must have kept people away...or not many people in London knew about this deal!

Anyway, I'm a happy monkey as I was totally set to shell out the hard dough but since having bought a few games recently really didn't want to!

Anyone else have any luck with this?!

I pity the poor pricks who go to the launch with a bunch of bananas and still end up having to pay for the game. That would be annoying, but I suppose they can just eat them...everyone likes bananas.

If I lived near any of them I would actually properly do this. Cool marketing idea as well. People walk by the shop and wonder why people are holding bananas, it puzzles them for a while, and when they find out what it is they remember it.
