Disney confirms restructuring of Interactive group
As many as half of Disney Interactive Studios' 700 staff have been let go.
Disney Interactive Studios has confirmed a major "restructuring process" of its Interactive Media Group, resulting in around half of its 700 staff losing their jobs.
Overnight rumours of layoffs at Disney Epic Mickey developer Junction Point emerged, with Tweets from industry sources offering condolences to those who had lost their job.
In a statement given to Variety, Disney said: "As part of setting a strategic direction for future success in the digital media space, the Disney Interactive Media Group today began a restructuring process."

Disney shuttered Tron: Evolution studio Propaganda Games last week, a move which had been signposted since the cancellation of its Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned video game.
Things were looking more promising for Junction Point, however, with Disney Epic Mickey's 1.3 million units sold in December in the US setting making it the publisher's fastest-selling game ever. Even that doesn't appear to have been enough to save the studio from suffering cutbacks.
