SEGA has announced that Conduit 2, the follow-up to so-so sci-fi FPS from High Voltage, will be released in the UK on March 18, publisher SEGA has announced.

Conduit 2 will take players to the far reaches of the world to stop an alien invasion which can be fought in single-player, online multi-player battles, and all-new off and online co-op modes.

The sequel introduces Team Invasion Mode, the new co-op mode where players will be able to battle side-by-side in teams of four friends on the same screen. Additionally, Team Invasion Mode can be played online.

There'll also be a host of control options available to players, including Wii Remote and Nunchuk, MotionPlus (improved edge tracking and transitions to pointer control) and the Classic Controller.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

While not directly competing with this Wii exclusive, Crysis 2 hits Xbox 360, PS3 and PC at the end of March and might hurt potential sales from the hardcore. The biggest problem facing Conduit 2, though, is the lack of love for the original game.

You're mistaken. The Conduit sold the least of those three, and still hit the half-million mark. Not great, but certainly not awful. For example, Singularity didn't manage it, and neither did HAWX 2, Dark Void, Section 8, Timeshift, and plenty of other games aimed specifically at the 'hardcore' crowd. The thing about Wii games is that they don't rely on week 1 sales to the same extent as 360 and PS3 titles. They tend to have a much longer tail, selling fewer copies on any week but still selling 6 months down the line.

@pb : Goldeneye is closing in on the million mark, and is actually outselling the Wii version of Black Ops!

I bought the original Conduit back when i only had a wii purely because there was an online mode, however it always took a long time to connect and before long no one was playing online. Needless to say I traded it in.

Things change, there might be more of a hardcore Market over time or the casual players first gained by the Wii may start wanting more hardcore games.

How did Goldeneye sell?

Unless I'm mistaken the sales of the original Conduit, House of the Dead and MadWorld proved that there really isn't much of a hardcore Wii market. Not sure why they keep making core Wii games at this point...
