Infinity Ward: Wii can't deliver cinematic experience

Would 'gladly move to that platform' if it felt the experience was equal to other platforms.

Speaking to Develop, Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling has revealed that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer doesn't develop for the Wii because it currently feels that it can't deliver the same cinematic experience possible on other platforms.

"If we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform," said Bowling.

"Right now, we don't think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we’re doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it’s not equal then we won’t do it."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on November 10 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. On the same date, a Treyarch-developed Wii version of the first Modern Warfare will also be released.

right, if Nintendo wanted to include the "extra's" for those experiences, they could have. The it would have cost 350 dollars, sold half of what it has sold, and the games would have been all graphics and no gameplay....I like the Wii because, (the games I own), are fun, colorful, and yes, they do look good. I thought the 249 I paid was a bit high, but, seeing what Sony and Micro$oft were charging, I felt i got a good deal. Not to mention, I've found Sony products unreliable, so I wouldnt have bought a Sony anyway...

RE4 is not a "wag fest" it's actually really fun.
To be honest, After I bought a Wii, I couldnt play a 360 or ps3. I just wanted to play Excite ruck and Wii sports...(the 2 i got with the unit).
I found the other 2 systems an overabundance of buttons, ports, and not as fun. But hey, If a system came out with a 3 button controller, a reset and power button, I'd be happy.

I agree, The Wii is not as weak as everyone seems to think it is. If they really want to do it they could. Sometimes it's easier to not take on a challege....

The Wii does not offer Dolby Sound! It may offer great games but the games are not cinematic experiences. They may be graphically amazing but still won't offer the cinema experience as it is incapble of doing so. The other problem is the Framerate/Resoloution acheivable while the Wii has fantastic to experience games it cannot achieve a cinematic experience. The real question is why would the wii want a cinematic experience it's not what it is aimed at?

I didn't say it bettered todays game - I said it holds up well to todays games!

One quick question do you think any of the games on the PS2 delivered a good cinematic experience - because the Wii's graphics surpass the PS2's and can therefore deliver a cinematic experience - if delivered by a developer that can be bothered to invest the effort.
Even the PSone delivered games that gave a cinemtaic experience.

BTW - If you are saying any game that doesn't equal Uncharted 2's graphics are unable to deliver this experience - then you've pretty much said that there are not many games out there that can deliver - as Uncharted 2's graphics are exceptional even by this gens standards with only a handful of games even coming close.

No ben Trey Arch broke the Cod MW engine when they made COD 5 granted it was better than their first attempt with COD3 but still a backwards step! I must admit the COD reviews are the only ones that bug meon the site.

COD 2 - 8 -Pretty Decent First Attempt at 7th Gen Launch
COD 3 - 8 - Terrible utter terrible
COD 4 - 9 - Well Deserved
COD 5 - 9 - A step backward from what COD 4 was and it still got a 9 at best it should be an 8 in reality deserved a 7
COD 6 - 10? Thats my bet! And next year who knows and who cares!

Personally, I don't want a cinematic experience on my consoles. I'll go to the cinema for that, and leave the consoles to offer me a great gaming experience.

Are you sure? When I was playing Uncharted 2 everyone that watched was like "whoa this is so cool wow amazing graphics etc". If I played RE4 today people would be like "Wow, nice shade of brown. Are you waggling fast enough? etc".

Sub standard? I think you'll find Treyarch did an excellent job of Call of Duty 5 which in that respect means they have experience developing for the Wii and will deliver.

The worst thing they could have done was give us nothing - but I'm merely thankful we're getting the first one with the superb Wii FPS controls.

That comment does seem a little un-needed, why does infinity ward need to repeat what everyone knows. Everyone knows the wii can't handle the graphical power a port would need but wii players don't need to have to have it spelled them. Comments like this just brings back the wii arguement in to the public eye.

Lighting and ambient sound has as much bearing on the experience as graphics. A fully cinematic and blockbuster experience is the full package, the Wii can't cope with having as many objects on screen let alone the level of details required to have things blowing in the wind and interactive environments, lighting, physics. Even the sound chip in the Wii isn't capable of the depth and quality required to re-produce the soundtracks. It's just not good enough and it's not what it's meant for in the first place.
