Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser has revealed that he would like to make a sequel to 2006 school adventure Bully - and he has plenty of ideas for where to take it.

"I know I want to," Houser told Polygon when asked whether it was time to develop Bully 2. "Well, hopefully, you never know. There's a lot of directions I could go with that one, it's funny."

One direction Houser won't take the series, though, is turning Bully protagonist Jimmy Hopkins into a law-breaking adult.

"I never saw him as being that level of degenerate," he said, asked whether Jimmy could appear in a Grand Theft Auto title. "I saw him as a bad teen, because he comes from a tough home, who could go either direction. He's not going to be a carjacker. He's too white collar for that already. He's at a sh*t private school, but he's going to end up being really happy because he's at the worst bit of his life, or being a sort of messed up white collar doofus.

"He was an unpleasant soul, but he had a heart. To some extent you could say the same was true of [Grand Theft Auto 4's] Niko in a bizarre way. But [Jimmy's] not trying to burn down the school, he's more trying to stand up to injustice."

Bully followed Hopkins through his life at secondary school, with players able to attend lessons, commit crimes and woo classmates.

A sequel has long been requested by fans. The game first launched on PlayStation 2 in 2006, with a next-gen and PC re-release following two years later.

Rockstar's latest title GTA 5 released last Tuesday. It has yet to announce its next title.

Was just talking to another forumite and truly forgot how long ago this game came out and the time between the two releases on ps2 and 360. Really has stood the test of time!

Bully is my desert island game - I think it is a superb experience all round, and is the exemplar of open world gameplay. Finished the game several times, yet can always go for a new playthrough - I would be ecstatic to see a sequel.

Whether it is set at Bullsworth a few years later (with a new protagonist, or Jimmy as a senior prefect), or in a college-like environment, I'd take anything.
