Ubisoft and Gearbox Software have announced that the acclaimed and multi-million selling Brothers In Arms franchise is in development for Nintendo DS and Wii.

Brothers In Arms Double Time for Wii is scheduled for release in the autumn, with Brothers In Arms DS planned to arrive in the summer.

"Brothers In Arms on the Wii and DS systems is really exciting for us," said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software. "I am a huge fan of both systems and thrilled about making games for the two platforms. In the entire space of first-person shooters on video game systems, Brothers In Arms really lends itself to both the Wii and DS interfaces. Imagine using the Wii Remote to give actual hand signals or aiming with the DS stylus from a covered position. That's what you can look forward to with Brothers In Arms Double Time and Brothers In Arms DS."

Double Team for the Wii will feature 31 playable levels where you'll be able to play as Sergeant Matt Baker and Joe Hartsock, leading your squad behind enemy lines through the Normandy invasion.

Gearbox will be enabling players to use the Wii Remote to issue orders and perform military gestures, and we're promised next-gen artificial intelligence that will take military action to the next level.

With the DS, Gearbox has made the game easy to play using stylus-based controls to aim. There's also the promise of realistic 3D graphics with detailed environments and great animation.

The game will be spread across 16 missions and three campaigns: Normandy, North-Africa and Ardennes. Players will also be able to drive around in vehicles such as the recon car and Sherman Tank.

DS players will also be able to challenge up to three friends with wireless multiplayer modes, including Deathmatch and team Deathmatch.
