According to sales figures published by the NPD Group, Wii Play topped the US sales chart for the month of December, shifting 1.46 million units. The mini-game collection which comes bundled with a Wii Remote was closely followed by Activision's Call of Duty: World at War on Xbox 360 which sold an impressive 1.33 million units - the PS3 version managed 533,000 units.

Nintendo's Wii Fit fell just short of hitting the million mark, placing at No.3 with 999,000 units. Nintendo's chart dominance continued with Mario Kart Wii (878,000 units), Guitar Hero World Tour Wii (859,000 units), Mario Kart DS (540,000 units) and Animal Crossing: City Folk (497,000 units).

The Top 10 also had space for Gears of War 2 and Left 4 Dead on Xbox 360, selling 745,000 and 629,000 units respectively. Left 4 Dead sales have now exceeded one million units on Xbox 360.

this is meaningless. people just buy wii play when they need a remote and they are out of stock. That doesn't mean they play it more than 15 minutes.

everyone knows that
