I checked with my local indie but their delivery wasn't due for another hour, so I guess it'll be ASDA first thing tomorrow for me. I'm hard up too but the big epic RPGs that I love are few and far between and then seem to vanish off the face of the earth a few weeks after launch, so I'm in a 'must have it now' mood for this one regardless of dietary requirements.

I played the demo last night, and I have to see it does feel like Darksiders crossed with World of Warcraft. Even looks the same. In fact the animation is pretty horrible, I expect a lot more in animation these days. Just because Blizzard did it with WoW all those years ago and it was successful, doesn't mean it works now.

I also feel there isnt enough polish (not polish people!) in the game to warrant the recycled elements. The little things missing like being able to instantly equip something from a chest (can compare then equip, but it's just annoying) it all feels a bit clunky and stunted as a whole.

Combat is as expected, a bit god of war, but without the smoothness. Enjoyable enough, repetition remains to be seen from the demo, it normally doesn't bother me as I enjoy games like Earth Defense Force and Moon Diver; What I would like to see are more enemies, I know it's the initial scenes of the game, but I would have like to have been attacked by mobs of enemies sooner, just to set the scene for things to come. Granted I only really got out of the tower at the beginning and I may well have been set upon by dozens of enemies 5 minutes down the line. But that's not the feeling I got from it.

Still the combat was engaging enough to keep me interested, but I wont be buying it. I'll add it to my rental list. Thats not to say I wouldnt buy it if I had the money though, times are hard atm and full game purchases are few and far between for me.

Yeah, my first instinct is to smash barrels for items. Oh RPGs you have taught me so well.

Note: The most important part starts at 7:57 with a bit of barrel smashing. And you missed a few before the rats so if you've already left that dungeon you'll have to spend the rest of your 200 hours wondering if they contained legendaries.

It also raises the question - is there a JRPG with barrel smashing in it?
