Black Ops II clearly wants nothing more than to pucker up and make out with Paul Verhoeven in a filthy nightclub.

LittleBigPlanet Karting is an enjoyable game, but it's far from a great one, and it doesn't feel like it's had the love and attention previous games in the series have clearly benefitted from.

WWE 13 is far more fun than its predecessor, but this is largely down to some slight improvements to the core mechanics and the addition of hero-era nostalgia.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted's greatest achievement is how it sets such a firm focus on racing. Criterion set out to make an open-world arcade racer where competition is king, and succeeded.

As extraordinary as the scale and scope of this huge production can be at times, you're left with a bloated reminder that bigger isn't always better.

Podium finish?

Despite the occasional glimpse of dollar signs in its publisher's eyes, Skylanders Giants is that rarest of beasts: a kids' game that's very, very easy for adults to like.

Gearbox has shown exactly how DLC is supposed to be done. Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty is an affirming example of the right time, the right place and, crucially, the right content.

The best moments of Retro City Rampage come from a shared enjoyment of the past.

This short-lived, artistically-worthy slice of downloadable eccentricity fails on that most crucial of fundamentals – it's just not much fun to play.
