Retro City Rampage on PS3 and PS Vita has been updated to offer two additional graphics modes - one which makes the visuals better and one which recreates the limitations of 8-bit hardware.

RETRO+ Enhanced Graphics Mode

The RETRO+ Enhanced Graphics Mode gives Retro City Rampage a neo-retro boost with dynamic shadows and doubling the colours on screen. The original 8-bit mode is still there for purists.

Prototype Version

ROM City Rampage, an 8-bit hardware-accurate prototype has also been added. This version recreates the limitations of 1980s hardware, including sprite flicker. To access the new mode go to Nolan's Arcade or Doc Choc's house and find the in-game video game machine.

The video below is well worth watching if you want to appreciate the difficulties of true 8-bit development.

These new game modes form part of a larger update already available on PC.

Of course you have every right to voice your displeasure, I never said anything to the contrary. I disagree you are being shafted though.

Hardly - as a consumer being shafted, having paid the same amount for the (initially) same product, I have every right to voic my displeasure. And shall continue to do so.

I only ask as the only times I can recall you acting so strongly is when you are missing out. Gaming these days is full of exclusives, timed or otherwise which is far from an ideal world but I still think your reaction is a little extreme.

Of course - I have long said that ongoing support for all version of a game, barring odd skins/the like - should be as close as possible if they are officially offered and *sold* across multiple devices. Mods and the like the obvious exception.

Would you have felt so strongly if the update had been Xbox only?

No word on the 360 update? I know the devs are tight with Sony, but they shouldn't give one version more goodies of this nature...

Edit: 'no plans' apparently. Chiselling ... that is absolutely shocking, and pretty disgusting - the developer has lost ALL my respect and future support if this uneven support carries on.
