The PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale beta will begin for PlayStation Plus members on PS3 on October 17, expanding to all PS3 gamers on October 24.

In addition, a PS Vita beta will begin tomorrow with no PS Plus membership required. The beta will support Cross-Play, meaning PS3 and PS Vita owners will be able to fight with and against each other.

The beta includes:

  • You’ll be able to play as Kratos, Sweet Tooth, Colonel Radec, Sly Cooper, PaRappa and Fat Princess.
  • You’ll be able to play in both the Metropolis and Hades stages.
  • You’ll be able to try out four-player online tournaments and 2 vs 2 online tournaments. For the 2 vs 2 games we’ll be supporting friend invites, so you and a friend can fight another team online.

The beta is scheduled to end on October 30.

The 'proper' beta has already taken place anyway.

The term "Beta" means nothing these days. The game comes out less than a month after the Beta finishes. Surely they are releasing this to know what is needed for their first title update.
