crying girl -

Have you been putting late night FIFA 13 sessions before the needs of your wife or girlfriend? Well, you're not alone.

According to a survey conducted by VoucherCodesPro, FIFA 13 has played a part in more than 1 in 10 recent break-ups.

Of 1,124 newly single people, 12 per cent "specifically mentioned" FIFA 13 as being a contributing factor to the deterioration of their relationship.

Of that 12 per cent, almost half claimed that it was due to the FIFA addict spending more time with the game than their partner, while 31 per cent said that FIFA 13 had caused a "change in mood" within the relationship.

FIFA 13's transfer deadline day specifically stood in the way of 13 per cent of those relationships, while 9 per cent were so stressed out by FIFA 13's online connection issues that it caused problems with their partner.

Men weren't the only culprits, though: 13 per cent of those addicted to the game were female.

"We had '50 Shades of Grey' causing problems in relationships during the summer, however, now it seems like 'FIFA Shades of Grey' as another obsession takes over!" said George Charles of VoucherCodesPro.co.uk. "People see video games as a break from reality, but it seems that the virtual world can have implications in the real world too.

"Video games can get addictive, but it's important to keep a hold on reality and not let it detract from daily life. Games are meant to be a source of fun not strife. Players need to put them into perspective and take a step back if it gets too much. If a game's going badly, why not just turn off and start again?!"

First Football Manager (the widow maker) and now Fifa; maybe it says something more about football fans.

Speaks more of the relationships than the game, if you ask me... (which I wouldn't recommend, given I'm in a statistically analytic frame of mind today :p)

I was trying to highlight how useless these stats are. I read everything that David Scemall says, David Scaamel is my favourite writer on Videogamer, I even have a poster of David Schemel above my bed.

I like to read my VoucherProFreebies surveys when I'm out and about, so I printed a voucher for a free Dairy Ice Cream with a Carvery from Toby Carvery, thanks to the people at FunVouchersCoUk, and I was most delighted with their accurate statistical analysis of a current hot topic.

How do they get these numbers? Seems a bit suspect unless it's a survey sponsored by EA.

More than 1 in 10? So they interview 11 people who are all gamers and 2 of them had marriage issues due to FIFA, then apply those numbers globally.

I have to say, I don't usually rage, but FIFA has made me swear at the tv, throw my controller and generally be a terrible man.

lol, Got to say though FIFA is more stressful than any FPS. I find I sweat more playing someone on FIFA than I ever do playing BF3.

I'm sure I read somewhere that sports games are more stressful than FPS's in some study.
