PES project lead Jon Murphy has confirmed to VideoGamer.com that Tottenham and Manchester United will be the two officially licensed teams from the Premier League in PES 2011.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at gamescom yesterday, Murphy explained that "The English league will only ever allow us to have two teams" and that this year "it's Spurs and Man U".

So why aren't Liverpool in this year's game? It's quite simple, really: Spurs did better last season.

"They [Liverpool] had a bad season," said Murphy. "What we have to try and do is to pick the teams that will fit into the top flight competition - the Champions League. It's not a reflection on Liverpool's fan base at all. It's just that we have to try, because we are so limited in the number of UK clubs, we have to make the other areas as authentic as possible."

Konami will no doubt be hoping Spurs can overcome a terrible 3-2 defeat to Young Boys and progress into the Champions League. Fingers crossed.

I still stand by what I said. PES overall in recent years have been crap, and Konami know that themselves, yet they still failed in terms of competing against FIFA 08, 09 and 10 plus will no doubt lose to FIFA 11. Refinements from FIFA 10 to FIFA 11 will no doubt be good. The small touches as into player personalities is good.

I doubt people won't buy the game because what I have said. There will many other reasons why they won't buy PES. Not only has PES not been good in terms of gameplay but online is terrible. FIFA 10, 09 plus 08 were fine.

I know this comment sounds biased and mainly bigging up FIFA, but I have purchased PES games in the past. PES4, 5 and 6 being my favourites.

I don't care much for football games but if the market reaction is like Wido's then that's pretty disheartening. Buying a game based on the teams that are in it and not the quality of the game? People would happily buy an inferior game just because there's a team on the other one that they don't like?

That is actually like me not buying Smash Bros Brawl because Sonic was in it.

Definitely not getting PES 2011 because of *****ty Spurs. Gunners fan born and bred. Dislike Spurs with a passion. I hope Young Boys win and go through. Would make my season even if Arsenal don't win a trophy.
