ModNation PSP needs code to play online
Buy the game without the code and you'll have to pay £7.99.
Hot on the heels of UFC 2010 and EA's planned Online Pass system for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 and future EA Sports titles - each bundling a code with new copies of the game which activates online functionality - comes Sony's ModNation Racers on PSP.
The retail UMD version of ModNation on PSP comes with a voucher to activate online play. If you buy the game second hand and the voucher has already been redeemed you'll need to purchase an 'Online Entitlement', priced £7.99 on the PS Store.
Mike Kebby of the SCEE PlayStation Store Team commented: "The digital copy comes with the online entitlement packaged with it, the retail copy comes with a code inside. We offer this purely for people who buy a second-hand copy and would not get the code that allows them to play online."
He added, in response to a PlayStation Blog question: "I couldn't comment on other publishers, but I think it's a safe assumption to believe we'll see it happen more often yes."
ModNation Racers for PSP is available now in UMD and download form. A PS3 version is also in stores today.

Company's are now getting greedy and starting to milk the market now they know its the highest earning trade. Gaming industry does't need such extra money.

I , as others should be feel wronged as after console , game , & isp fees , you have to pay xbl for the privilege of online play which should have been it but now its a double privilege as games now charge too . Sorry but if family gamers are the ones they were looking to attract then this is gonna drive em away . PsP online isn't worth the fee just as consoles aren't .

I think it's just another way of trying to stop the 2nd hand market. Sinilar to game content which EA did with Mass Effect 2 and The Sabotouer.

Also, i'm not sure if everyone is aware of this but people make games to MAKE MONEY. If they do not make money, they do not make games. The second hand market batters their profits. They are obviously going to try to stop this
