Activision has announced Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, a new action RPG coming to current and all next-gen systems.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is an all new action/RPG from Activision, and will feature more than 140 Marvel characters, the largest roster of comic book characters ever seen in a video game. Players can assume the role of more than 20 Marvel Super Heroes, be it Spider-Man, Wolverine, Blade, or many others. Players' actions will determine the fate of both planet earth and the Marvel universe.

"Marvel: Ultimate Alliance delivers a new twist on action/RPGs where players' actions and choices ultimately determine what happens to the Marvel universe," states Will Kassoy, Vice President of Global Brand Management for Activision. "This coupled with the game's enormous character roster will deliver an action-packed experience that comic book fans have been waiting for."

You play the game in teams which can be fully customised with a team name, icon, and vehicle. As you play through the story your team's reputation will improve, as will the team members' abilities through levelling up. This can be done on a per character basis or you can level up the whole team at the same time, ensuring the heroes remain balanced. Some of Marvel's most notorious villains will be there to put an end to your team's efforts, with battles taking place on land, sea and in the air. Use the characters' Super Hero powers to full effect by charging them up before unleashing an attack, and take hold of environmental objects which can be used as weapons.

As well as a rich single-player experience the Activision promises plenty of action in the multiplayer arena, with both online an offline cooperative play in the game's story mode. In-game stats can also be tracked, enabling players to see how well their team/characters compare to the other teams playing the game.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is scheduled for release in the autumn on current home and handheld systems, PC, and all next-gen consoles.
