UPDATE: SCEA has confirmed that The Last of Us: Remastered is heading to PlayStation 4, telling Mashable that it'll be "sharing more details with you shortly."

ORIGINAL REPORT: The Last of Us: Remastered has been revealed for PlayStation 4 via an advert on PlayStation Store.

However, the ad appears to have leaked out prematurely, with the link leading to an unlisted page. Could an official announcement be due today?

The advert states that the game will be a Day 1 Digital release, suggesting it'll also see a physical launch, although further details have yet to be confirmed.

A PS4 version of The Last of Us was first revealed by PlayStation Eurasia software market manager Sercan Sulun, who stated that the the game would "also include the [Left Behind] DLC".

At the time, Sony told VideoGamer.com that "at no time have we announced that The Last of US is coming to PS4 and therefore, have nothing to say on the subject."

Expect an official announcement imminently.

I doubt they will offer an upgrade. The reason EA, Ubisoft and Activision had an upgrade program for their launch titles was because they didn't want people to hold back on buying their games until they got a next gen system.

@Neil_Druckmann says they are targeting 60fps. Impressive.

I might double dip on this one just for the greater clarity for the assets that a native 1080p presentation brings to the table and because I haven't picked up the DLC yet. I actually bought the original on PSN, I wonder if Sony will offer a digital upgrade like EA & Activision did a few months back.

Not particularly interested in buying the game a second time, but I suppose it might be useful if you've never played the PS3 version.

I'd be interested to know what's actually going to be improved with this version. I mean technically the current version is fine. It looks and sounds amazing so I'm not sure what else could be added to make that experience any better. It would be brilliant if ND added some new content to sweeten the deal but if they don't I'll pick this up when it's £20.

If it's 1080p 60fps with improved textures and AA, I may give it another look

Also, expect a million more remastered versions of old games because its easier than actually making a new game

I will totally pay nearly £40 for this... Even though I've played through the original three times already.
