The Banner Saga 2 will release on PS4 next Tuesday, July 5, Versus Evil has announced, two weeks earlier than its originally planned release date. It also lands four days after the Xbox One version, which will be available on Games with Gold for free this Friday, July 1.

The PS4 version will, however, feature an exclusive ability bonus, a unique level 10+ sword that gives a +3 all talent rank and 20% double strength damage.

“We originally planned to launch later in the month,” Versus Evil’s community director Lance James explained on PlayStation Blog. “However, because of the combined effort of our friends at Sony and the hard work by the team at Shiny Shoe, we are able to bring this to you much sooner.

“Stoic wanted people to kick start their summer off right and jumped at the chance to get the second game in PlayStation 4 owners’ hands – just three months after the launch on PC and Mac, which is so much quicker than the previous wait you guys had for Banner Saga 1!”

Stoic adds that it aims to release the third game, Banner Saga 3, simultaneously on all platforms, although a release date for that has yet to be confirmed.

UPDATE: This article previously incorrectly stated that the PS4 version launches two weeks after the Xbox One version. This error has since been corrected.
