While Rebellion still hopes to achieve parity between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of Sniper Elite 3, the game may end up running "a little bit slower on Xbox One" than Sony's console, 505 Games has said.

In an interview with Gaming Bolt, senior producer Jean-Baptiste Bolcato revealed that Rebellion was aiming to get "as close as possible to 60 frames per second on both the systems.

"It will probably be closer to 60 on the PS4 but it drops to around 40 and 50, but you won't really feel or notice it," he said. "It may be a little bit slower on Xbox One but we are hoping to have full [parity] between the two machines."

The Xbox One won't feature support for stereoscopic 3D either, Bolcato said, "as they do not support it yet".

Bolcato's comments round off another bad week for Microsoft that has already seen Hideo Kojima reveal that the Xbox One version of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes won't look quite as good as the PS4 version.

Sniper Elite 3 launches on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC in the second half of 2014.

The magical cloud won't fix everything until Microsoft adds the rainbows and unicorns to the mix.

45 fps makes no sense. It would be worse than 30 fps. I'll agree that I have no idea why developers try to push 60 fps when they can't consistently hit the cap (they'd be better off boosting some effects and capping at 30 fps instead), but you obviously don't understand how framerate works. Most TVs are 60 Hz. That means they can display 60 frames per second. Developers try to hit 30 or 60 fps because it's a number that can be divided into 60 Hz. At 30 fps your tv duplicates each frame twice per second. At 60 fps each frame is displayed once per second. At 45 fps half the frames would be displayed twice per second, and the other half only once. It creates a stuttering effect. It's bad. There's your lesson for today. It's 30 fps or 60 fps.

Might as well have future articles saying "____ has issues on Xbox One"

Tell you what annoys me.

That console developers are so fixated on (trying to) locking games to either 30 or 60fps.
Why the hell release a game with a 60fps cap when you know it's going to fluctuate between 40 and 60?
I don't care what he says, you will notice that.
Just cap the game at, shock and horror, 45fps.
Consistency is ultimately the most important thing in a framerate.
It's why PC gamers buy such expensive graphics cards (guilty of that myself now).

Micro-stutters and fps fluctuations are outright annoying and distracting.
In the case of the PC version of GTAIV, saying as it's an awful, awful port, I've capped the framerate at 40, rather than hovering between 48/52 but dropping to 38 on busy streets.

I wonder how long it will be before we stop seeing this kind of thing being reported on. Will it just become the norm that ps4 games run a tad better? Or perhaps the magical cloud will fix everything.

@FreedFenrir, I did not buy my console based off of which was the most powerful. By your logic you should own a PC, not a PS4.

We buy gaming machines to play games. I trust MS to produce games which I enjoy. I do not have to "find something else." I have found the console that provides the experience I enjoy.

I would ask you to find something other than negativity. It is perfectly acceptable for me to enjoy something different from you and not be asked to justify myself.

This new generation of consoles is in its infant stage. Be careful, the view looking back in 5 years may be very different.

there is still quite a bit of time before release, the bloke said himself they are hoping to have full parity between machines,we will just have to wait and see what happens.
