Making Resident Evil 7 fully VR compatible did introduce additional development costs, Capcom has revealed in a new investor Q&A.
“Certain things were required in making the game VR-compatible, such as graphic needs that are more complex than before, thus there was an increase in development investment,” explained the newly published first quarter Q&A.
However, the Japanese game maker is confident its tools have enabled costs to be kept to a minimum.
“We believe we have succeeded in optimizing our development process via fundamental technologies including our 3D scanning system, lighting and shading, which allowed us to minimize additional costs while achieving high-quality development.”
The total development budget of Resident Evil 7 has not been revealed. The game is scheduled to release January 24.
