The No Man’s Sky Limited Edition is not part of a major conspiracy to cover up a last minute decision to remove online play from the hit space exploration game, Sony has said.

Pictures of the limited edition box appeared online showing a sticker which not only changes the PEGI rating from 12 to 7, but also covered an online descriptor.

A manufacturing error was always the most likely reason for the sticker, and this turns out to be the case.

“Incorrect descriptors were incorporated into the original No Man’s Sky limited edition packaging,” explained Sony in a statement. “This was a production issue and was rectified using placement stickers.”

No Man’s Sky released for PS4 earlier this week with a few teething problems, and launches for PC today at 6pm BST.
