Over 200 Star Wars Battlefront units will be at Gamescom next week to give thousands of players the opportunity to go hands-on with DICE’s sci-fi shooter ahead of launch, EA has revealed.

CEO Andrew Wilson discussed the publisher’s plans for next week’s show during an earnings call last night, explaining that it had “thousands of people play [Star Wars Battlefront] at E3 in one of the more robust setups we’ve had for a shooter in our E3 booth in recent years, and we’re looking at having literally tens or hundreds of thousands of people play it on over 200 units at gamescom next week.”

Wilson adds that the current code is “all very playable. The quality is high, and the feedback so far from the player base has been very positive.”

EA is also due to have hands-on stations for Need For Speed, although its full show-floor lineup has yet to be confirmed.

Pre-orders for Battlefront, meanwhile, are said to be “extremely strong” following its showing at E3 last month, with EA expecting a “tremendous response” from next week’s demo.

Star Wars Battlefront launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC this November.
