The difference in power between the PS4 and Xbox One is small and nothing to worry about, Hideo Kojima has told 4Gamer.

Kojima was at E3 with Metal Gear Solid 5, revealing the game for Xbox One and PS4.

"The difference is small, and I don't really need to worry about it," he said, suggesting versions for Xbox One and PS4 won't be dramatically different.

He believes that price may be a deciding factor for consumers, but questions Sony's decision not to include a camera with all PS4s.

"When you come right down to it, the PS4 is cheap (laughs). Though, I wonder about the inclusion of the camera..." he said.

Microsoft will include Kinect with all Xbox One consoles.

He added: "Considering that the camera is so widespread in smartphones and tablets, I think it'll build up to be the norm."

VideoGamer.com Analysis

Whilst cameras may eventually become the norm for console gaming, the fact Sony is able to significantly undercut the price of the Xbox One by not shipping PS4s with a camera could be prove to be huge win for the platform holder. Microsoft will have to work hard to sell the added value of Kinect.

I think Sony's decision to make the PSEye optional was a good one because think about it less than a third of Xbox 360 owners bought a Kinect at all this generation.

Microsoft has done a rubbish job of marketing the Kinect as a relevant gaming peripheral. All they showed us over the last few months has been a load of TV nonsense (I don't even watch live TV anymore it's not worth it.. I'll go to the pub to watch a match if I really want to.. cheaper than paying over the odds for a Sky Sports subscription!) and then like one or two tech demos that didn't really show us anything at all.

I know E3 was all about the games but if Kinect 2.0 is really as amazing as they are making it out to be, why couldn't they show off ONE game that might be good? My guess is that they don't have any decent Kinect games to show off.

They could have ditched one of the third party games that will be multiplatform anyway in favour of a Kinect-only game that really shows the potential of this piece of hardware that Microsoft is FORCING everybody to buy into if they want an Xbox One.

'Yeah.. Xbox One is £80 more expensive than the PS4 and that's mostly down to the cost of Kinect... BUUUTTTTTTT we won't bother showing you any games for it because we already forced you to have it. Love from Microsoft"

As expected, the console hardware on both machines is almost the same and first generation titles for them both will still be exploring the ins and outs of the hardware.

It will probably take a year or two before we see developers on both consoles finding all the hidden bits that give them something really special.

One word "SKYPE" it is becoming more and more used it's more useful than facetime as you don't need an apple product and is pretty much becoming the standard for video chat so much so that manufacturers of TV's are producing camera's for tops of TV's and charging the same as cost of kinect for the privilege with less benifits.

It's interesting how just by not having a camera packed in with the PS4, has effectively helped Sony, one up Microsoft so much.

The PS4 is cheaper, therefore the more viable purchase of the two. Gamers aren't angry at Sony for forcing a camera/ motion controls on them. And by not having a camera on the PS4, multiplatform games are less likely to have voice/ motion enabled features, because said features would not be available to all user. So they've effectively helped cut amount of 3rd party support for the kinect in some way as well.

the point of a camera on a smartphone is convenience, to take photos when out and about with minimal effort/no extra cost.
how will a camera on top of your television be in any way convenient, to take a picture of your bedroom or living room or something?
he might well be right about the cameras or whatever, too early to say, but the reasoning 'it worked in smartphones therefore itll work on home consoles' is basically whats wrong with the industry at the moment.
