Dark Fantasy cooperative first-person slasher Hellraid is no longer coming to Xbox 360 and PS3, but will instead launch in 2015 on Xbox One and PS4, Techland has announced.

A Steam version is also in development, with an early access version set for this autumn.

The game is being transitioned to the Chrome Engine 6, the latest version of Techland's proprietary technology, which is also used by the next-gen zombie survival horror, Dying Light. The newer tech means Hellraid will benefit from a new physics-based lighting system, more detailed locations and character models, complex animations, advanced particle effects, and state-of-the-art AI systems.

The release delay also means the game will offer more content across three game modes:

Story Mode: Players will explore the world and try to repel forces of Hell.

Mission Mode: Will put more focus on arcade-style fun of climbing up leaderboards, creating the longest combos and beating high scores.

Arena Mode: Survival gameplay with waves of deadly demonic hordes to fend off.

All modes are playable in single-player or in 2-4 player co-op.

"Confront an adaptive AI" shows a skeleton using EXACTLY the same animation of attack as 90% of the zombies from Dead Island. Guys please just step away from this genre for a bit, I enjoyed Dead Island but it really felt like a dream unrealised. Maybe this will polish it all off but I have some serious doubts

what is it with techland and first-person zombie games lol... i've played them and never really enjoyed any of them. I've always given them the benefit of the doubt but I think i'll pass on this.

I know the Dead Island's games are pretty bad in quality but there's something about the 'zombie killing simulator with crafted weapons' that is good mindless fun

Did the previous dead island games sell well? What is it that motivates techland to keep making games like this? hardly seen anything about it, but just by watching a couple minutes of gameplay it doesn't seem too excessive to call this Dead Island:Fantasy edition
