The PlayStation 4 version of FIFA 15 outsold the Xbox One version by 100,000 units in the UK, according to a new report.

While access to sales figures is usually restricted to companies partnered with Chart-Track, UK newspaper Metro claims to have been told of the sales difference by an "insider".

"Chart-Track doesn't reveal actual sales figures, since companies have to pay to access that information and aren't supposed to make it public. But an insider tells us that the PlayStation 4 version was ahead of the Xbox One by 100,000 units," says Metro.

"That's an awful lot considering how much effort Microsoft put in with co-promoting the game with EA, including the Xbox exclusive Ultimate Team Legends mode."

Figures posted by Metro, however, suggest that Xbox 360 was on par with PS4 sales, with PS4 reportedly accounting for 32 per cent of total sales, Xbox 360 at 30 per cent, Xbox One at 22 per cent and PS3 at 15 per cent.

EA has yet to announce sales figures for the game. However, it was revealed this morning that week one sales were up by 15 per cent over last year's FIFA 14 due to the simultaneous launch on Xbox One and PS4.

FIFA 15 landed in the UK last Friday shooting straight to the top of the UK charts. Thinking about buying it on your lunch hour? Find out where to pick it up cheapest with our supermarket and high street price roundup.

Karlius, surely you had something better to do with your spare 10 minutes than research sales figures? Sadly I didn't have anything better to do than read your findings.

I think you could factor in the exclusive advertising that MS have with FIFA as well. Good god, I'm becoming as bad as you.

From my PS4 friends list, the people that regularly played FIFA 14 are now playing FIFA 15 despite the fact the PES demo shows it is clearly a better game (in my opinion).

Really a "huge lead"? There are supposed to be twice as many PS4's in UK homes as there are Xbox Ones, I say this is a triumph for EA and MS. It's clearly had a massive attach rate on the Xbox One consoles. EA will be happiest its done very well on Sony consoles too!

Edit

I spent 10 minutes looking up the figures of week one sales and call Bull Sh!t on this article.

Total sales (All Formats) totaled 1,103,480 so if sales are up by 15% that is 1,269,002 units

If PS4 has 32% of sales that is 406,080 units and the X1's sales tally 279,180.

Now that seems legit its over the 100k lead suggested.

However that would give an approximate attach rate of 1 game to every 2.5 PS4's and 1 game to every 1.8 Xbox Ones. I call absolute b0ll0cks.

I have a diverse friends list and mostly everyone is playing destiny or watchdogs dlc at the moment the odd few are playing FIFA. There is no chance on this earth that those figures are correct.

For comparison day one last year PS3 sold 341,437, 360 sold 546,323.
There were approx 10 to 15 million of each console in the UK at that time.

What's more what % is 100k of 1,269,002 answer is 7.9% that throws all the numbers out as it was quoted as 10% between the consoles.
