Far Cry Primal will not feature a co-op mode, Ubisoft has confirmed, with the game's developer instead choosing to focus its efforts entirely "on the single player experience".

Co-op support was included in both Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4, with the latter allowing two players to team up and take on missions together.

"We are focusing entirely on creating the best possible Far Cry experience for our fans," Ubisoft community manager Jason Paradise wrote on Steam. "Bringing the Stone Age to life and providing players with a strong gameplay experience based off of the Far Cry legacy meant we had to reinvent our core gameplay loop.

"This was definitely not a small undertaking. Our focus was on delivering this fantasy which required clear priorities for the team. Therefore, in the early stages of the project, we made the difficult choice of focusing our efforts on the single player experience."

Far Cry Primal sends players back to 10,000 BC where they'll need to scavenge items and tame animals to help them survive against the wild.

The game launches on PS4 and Xbox One on February 23, with a PC release following one week later on March 1.

Corporate BS Alert!!!

They said the same thing multiple times with Assassin's Creed and even recently with Rainbow Six : Siege.

The age-old Ubisoft excuse of "it's our only focus" should be fooling no-one anymore. AC had the crap with "the story is our main focus, so the yearly installments aren't really being rushed out", AC3 with "our only focus was to really bring the series forward, so our only focus has been to reinvent our designs and thinking with this game", and who can forget "Rainbow Six : Siege's servers issues will be resolved for launch. It's our only focus to see that this game launches as smoothly as possible, so rest assured, everything will work for release."

Seriously, it's the BS Olympics with these guys. NO-ONE is dumb enough to believe this, are they?

And for the record, I was paraphrasing in my "quotes".

Good, im glad. It's about time they just had a properly balanced singleplayer campaign. I just hope the world isn't as sprawling as 4. I would settle in for a map half the size of 4. hoping it will be good, and preferably not full price.
