Correction: Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire sold 17 per cent more, not less, than last year’s titles.

The Black Friday sales have given the UK Video Games Chart a real shake up this week with many games reporting huge sales increases week-on-week.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is back on top thanks to heavy price reductions to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. A whopping 67 per cent of Call of Duty’s sales in the week came on the old-gen systems.

So popular was Advanced Warfare that it recorded the highest-ever sales for any game during Black Friday week.

Whilst Call of Duty was on the rise, Rockstar Games’ GTA 5 dropped 64 per cent week-on-week and slipped to No.3. The recent PS4 and Xbox One versions didn’t benefit from the kind of price reductions seen elsewhere so no doubt suffered at a time when buyers were looking for a bargain.

FIFA 15 pipped GTA 5 to second by only 1,500 units. Far Cry 4 takes fourth, followed by Assassin’s Creed Unity which climbs to fifth.

Pokémon Omega Ruby is new at No,7, some 2,400 units ahead of Pokémon Alpha Sapphire. Combined the pair would have charted in third with sales up 17 per cent over last year’s Pokémon X and Y. The games are also the fastest-selling Pokemon titles in the UK, outpacing 2011’s Black and White.

The game may still be a bit broken but big savings on PS4 console bundles helped DriveClub sales rocket by a crazy 999 per cent week-on-week, seeing the game jump from No.33 to No.8. Similarly, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag saw a 353 per cent sales increase thanks to Xbox One bundling, seeing the title jump back into the Top 10 at No.9.

Minecraft: Xbox Edition rounds off the Top 10, up 184 per cent thanks to the retail launch of the Xbox One Edition.

Nintendo will surely be disappointed by a No.13 debut for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which actually also includes sales for the 3DS game.

Sony’s LittleBigPlanet 3 could only manage 18th on its debut, despite being pushed in a console bundle.

Other games to benefit from the sales during Black Friday were Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor at No.11, and Disney Infinity 2.0 at No.14.

Ubisoft’s The Crew finally hits stores tomorrow and is likely to make the Top 10, but we can’t see the open-world racing game challenging the top. Also hitting stores this week is Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix on PS3. The speed at which PlayStation gamers have abandoned the console will be a worry to Square, but the compilation should sell well week one thanks to its strong fan base.
