Evolution Studios has released more information on upcoming PS4 racer DriveClub, confirming that players will be able to unlock the game's Platinum trophy from the free PlayStation Plus Edition and upgrade to a full digital edition for a discounted price.

Posting on NeoGAF, design director Paul Rustchynsky confirmed that the "PS+ Edition of DRIVECLUB will be available well into the new year," and that "there will be a discount to upgrade to the full digital edition from the PS+ edition, but prices won't be announced for a few more weeks yet."

"When you upgrade from the PS+ Edition you get the full digital edition which doesn't require a PS+ subscription," he added, before confirming that "you can earn the platinum trophy in the PS+ Edition... its [sic] the full game minus a few cars/tracks."

All PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to a content-light version of DriveClub for free at the launch of PS4, with a 14-day subscription to the service included in every box.

Split-screen multiplayer will not be available in either edition, Rustchynsky confirmed, while rear-view mirrors will only show the environment – not the surrounding cars.

"Rear-view mirrors as you've seen in the latest direct feed footage just show the environment," he said. "You'd be surprised how limited the visibility in the mirrors are for a lot of these cars and for gameplay purposes we want to give the best visibility."

Furthermore, Evolution is "working on a photo mode, but that's all [Rustchynsky] can say about it right now".

Rustchynsky adds that the team is working on releasing high-quality direct feed gameplay footage soon, suggesting that the raw footage it's captured previously is too big to upload.

"You guys wanted uncompressed footage and obviously the PS4 capture utilises some form of video compression to ensure the videos aren't ridiculously large (the raw direct feed videos we captured are 6GB for 2 minutes of footage)," he said. "We're working on alternative solutions for trying to get the highest quality vids up online quickly by ourselves."

DriveClub was still running at 30FPS when we checked it out at Gamescom, but Evolution maintains that it is still targeting 60FPS for the final release.

DriveClub goes on sale alongside PS4 on November 29.

I think the article is referring to the scaled-down PS+ free version having limited rear-view mirrors rather than the main retail game.

Worry not Evolution studios have confirmed that the mirrors will show everything like they should, this article is either misquoting or completely making stuff up

Just had to sign up to correct your article, I've been in touch with Evolution studios and theyve confirmed the rear view mirror will show everything. Here is the reply I got directly from them. Please fix this article as its completely wrong and making the game look half arsed thank you.

Quote from Evolution studios via their Driveclub facebook page;

"The rear view mirror shows EVERYTHING behind you (tracks and cars and ghosts)!

The only thing that it doesn't show is the reflection of the interior/exterior of your own car. This is something we decided to do after A LOT of testing and iteration, to remove a lot of frustration."

OMG. Get your priorities straight Evolution studios!
You brag about showing the correct thread count in car seats,
But decided not to show the cars behind you in the rear views.
That's the whole point of rear view mirrors!!

Right, why would I want to see the scenery in my mirror? It's purely there for me to block opponents. Sounds to me like they're having some memory, or processing issues and are trying to release a great reason why they aren't showing cars behind the player.

"You'd be surprised how limited the visibility in the mirrors are for a lot of these cars and for gameplay purposes we want to give the best visibility."

Then show us cars.

If you can't see cars in the rear view mirror then what purpose do they really serve?
