Evolution Studios has released two new videos showing off a sneak peak of DriveClub's dynamic weather system – and it's shaping up to be the best-looking racing game ever.

The first video (below) reveals the type of weather you may encounter while racing through the forests of Canada, with the second (bottom) showing off the soaked roads of Scotland.

As well as rain, Evolution promises snow, drizzle, sleet and blizzards that can dynamically appear and evolve throughout the race.

"Spots of rain can become torrential downpours or transition into blizzards, quickly or slowly, and when the clouds clear up the tracks will dry out too,” art director Alex Perkins said on PlayStation Blog. “So if you're in Norway, for example, you'll face heavier snow when you're racing atop the mountains and much lighter snow or sleet when you descend to a lower altitude. Lots of things play into this, like elevation, wind speed and temperature. We can even adjust all the way to zero visibility conditions too – the only limit will be the need to balance things for fun and usability."

Weather will also make a major change to the game's handling, Perkins says, who describes the dynamic weather system as a "game changer".

"When your tires get wet it’s harder to brake and easier to drift, which has a big effect on how you race and score fame for your club," he continues. "It's not just the handling that changes though, visibility can also change massively and impact on how the game plays too, especially at night when you’ve got your windscreen wipers going like crazy and your headlights are reflecting on the snowflakes ahead of you to blanket the sky in white."

Don't expect weather to be available at the launch of DriveClub, though: the system will reportedly be patched in "shortly after" the game's launch on October 10.

UPDATE: PlayStation Access has released a new video featuring an interview with Alex Perkins discussing the new weather technology and showing off the two weather effect videos in (heavily compressed) 1080p.

If it plays like PGR but with better gfx and weather that affects track conditions I'm sold. Cant beat MSR & PGR for good fun racers with great depth.
