Evolution Studios has released four new gameplay demos of DriveClub, showing off the latest progress made to the upcoming racer.

The videos are taken from the Gamescom demo shown last month, and show the perspective of four different cars racing through the Canadian 'Oliver's Landing' track at different times of day.

You can take a look at them all below.

The footage is said to be taken from the Alpha build running at 1080p 30FPS, and appears to boost a significant visual boost over the earlier E3 demo.

Last month, Evolution told that it was still targeting a 60FPS frame rate for DriveClub when it debuts alongside PlayStation 4 on November 29.

Sure. I only really mention Forza as its another racing game being released at the same time.

I also agree that this is supposedly aimed at a more casual market. But we've been treated to a lot of great racers these past few years (especially from Criterion and Codemasters). DriveClub is gonna need a hell of a lot more than scenery and 1080p to stay competitive in this market.

I'm kinda suggesting that as a launch game (and free on PS+) I might play it. But I'd be unlikely to pick it if I had other, supposedly superior choices.

I don't think it is meant to be a competitor to Forza, no point entering that arena when Gran Turismo covers it. I see it as a PGR type game, lovely animated courses and a more arcadey style. Personally, I prefer that sort of game.

See, I haven't played it myself and didn't want to mention gameplay. But this semi-serious racer is coming from the Motorstorm guys and the handling on that game was wonky as hell. Motorstorm got away with it due to the character of the racing. But serious racing games have some serious fans and we expect something pretty good.

Someone I know played a build recently and wasn't impressed with the handling.

The draw distance and amount of scenery is nice, and 1080p is a welcome addition to couch gaming. But overall I'm not sure Driveclub is a racer that can stand up to Forza, or Need for Speed. It appears characterless and features nothing to separate it from a crowd of potentially better racers.

It a nice game to have as a PS+ freebie. But would I drop £40 on it? Unlikely.
