Call of Duty: Ghosts has held on to the No.1 spot in the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart, followed by FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed 4 and GTA 5.

Just Dance 2014 climbs to seventh place, likely thanks to retailer price promotions.

However, Sony's usually bankable Gran Turismo franchise appears to be set for a struggle launching at the tail end of the PS3's lifecycle, with Gran Turismo 6 only managing to chart at No.8, selling just one-fifth of what Gran Turismo 5 managed at launch three years ago.

Other titles making the most of retailer price cuts include WWE 2K14, jumping eight places to No.14, and LBP on PS Vita, which re-enters the chart at No.38. Tearaway is also up on its launch week, climbing six places to No.31.

PS4 titles have dropped in their second week, with Killzone: Shadow Fall falling five places to No.9 and Knack also slipping five spots to No.18.

Meanwhile on Xbox One, Forza 5 is at No.26, Dead Rising 3 takes 29th and Ryse is at No.34.

Those hoping Super Mario 3D World would show a second week recovery are going to be disappointed, with the game dropping to No.20.

VideoGamer.com Analysis

In the final few weeks of the year we don't expect much change at the top, with new releases now done and dusted until the new year. Ghosts has to be favourite for the Xmas No.1, but it will likely come down to retailer price promotions over the coming weeks.

Gran Turismo 6 may also find itself on the receiving end of a pre-Christmas cut after a lower than expected launch week.

I suppose the only games that the logic can be applied to is Super Mario but sadly I think it's weak sales are due to the small install base. Really wanted the current advertisement to have an impact but it doesn't look like it is. Maybe too little too late.

The other being Zelda. Nintendo console owners are a strange bunch. :)

What on earth are you suggesting, pb? Are you inferring that certain parts of the gaming industry produce games that they know will sell quickly, but have little substance?

What it does show is that, similar to the music charts, a higher position is by no means a sign of quality!

2 million vs 60 million that is not the reason as to why this game is flopping.

Not much of a surprise to see GT6 not hitting as hard as the last version. Releasing it right at the launch of the new console is great in terms of showing some support for the old console, but with no backwards compatibility on the new machine it's a tough sell.
