Welcome to Heads-up, our weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down on the games you'll be able to buy or rent this weekend. The busy season is upon us, with a ton of new games hitting stores this week - thankfully a few of them are really rather good. The biggest hitter is likely to be Sony's PS3 exclusive FPS Resistance 3, which we will deliver a verdict on tomorrow morning. Also arriving is the graphically enhanced version of Star Fox 64 for the 3DS, which while short offers one of the most fun experiences on the handheld.

Worth a look

Some of these might turn out to be rather good, but having not been given final code we can't be sure. Warhammer 40K has got a good buzz following a solid demo, while El Shaddai has received some positive reviews in the US. More up in the air is Dead Island, which didn't impress us at preview stage but might change our mind once we've played the final build.

The only notable release here is Rise of Nightmares for Kinect, which might be good fun if the controls don't turn out to be terrible. We'll just have to wait and see.

resistance 3 looks like a cracking game,played the beta last week and was really impressed with the multiplayer. Dead Island is the one im most excited about,its been on my MOST WANTED list since THAT trailer although neon totally pissed on my parade with his preview,although im grateful for his honesty,when is the review up? Space Marine could be this years "WOLVERINE" A good old guilty pleasure. And rise of nightmares is a kinect game..........

Resistance 3 looks very good. Space Marine is a game that I am keeping my eyes on, but it's Dead Island which is the interesting one. IGN gave the game 8/10, so it will be interesting to hear the VG verdict, plus overall score on metacritic.
