The Club Features

For:PS3  Also On: Xbox 360WiiPC Release Date: 8 February 2008

We put the two console versions of SEGA's excellent shooter in a ring together. Which comes out on top?

The Club surprised us all last week. We just weren't expecting its arcade-style gameplay to be so addictive. There's no question that you should buy the game, no matter which system you own, but what if you have the choice between the Xbox 360 version and PlayStation 3 version? We're going to compare the two games in four key areas: Graphics, Sound, Gameplay and Multiplayer. Read on for the definitive verdict on which is the best.

Graphics

The Club is an excellent looking game. It might not look like anything too special in screenshots, but Bizarre Creations has managed to make a fluent game that packs in plenty of next-gen effects without making everything shiny. As with many recent multiplatform titles, the differences between the Xbox 360 and PS3 games are minimal, but after extensive play we have noticed a few slight blemishes in the PS3 version. At times the PlayStation 3 game will suffer from frame rate issues. It's not major, but it is noticeable. To our eyes the PS3 game is also rougher in appearance, failing to offer as crisp an image as the Xbox 360 game.

Verdict:
Unless you compare the two games side by side you won't be disappointed, no matter which version you buy. Seeing as we are comparing the two though, the Xbox 360 game is victorious in the Graphics category. A smoother frame rate and a crisper image make it the version to own if you're after the best visual quality.

You can see a direct comparison of the two games running side by side in our The Club Xbox 360 Vs PlayStation 3 video.

In the past I have always preferred to buy 360 games over PS3 equivalents. The primary reasons being cost, online play, achievements etc - all of which IMO, the 360 has been better than the PS3.

However, I am now on my 3rd 360, and this one is just about to be returned for repair- so for all the virtues of the 360, reliability isnt one of them (4 units in 2 years makes me feel like a beta tester, and even my newest unit - the Halo special edition HDMI version - has already packed in after just 5 months). Seeing as I wont have a unit for month, it made my decision for me - I bought the PS3 version.

My point is my whole 360 experience is ruined by hardware problems (and I am not alone), which now means I am chosing games for the PS3 based on a more reliable platform - rather than the quality of the game on a particular platform.

My PS3 may turn out to be just as unreliable as the 360 when played to the same extent - only time will tell.

It is very stupid to say xbox360 have better gfx please check the facts..
Uncharted Drake's Fortune best characters in-game ever, Resistance best A.I. Formula One best in game RAIN better will say 10 times better then PGR 4 in-game on xbox360.
Further please don't compare a 2 year machine with a 0,5 power ps3 (3 of 7 SPE's NOW OPEN ).
LOOK AT FACTS MY FREINDS....

It is very sad that so many 'professional' games review sites do not know how to set up the PS3 correctly. As has been mentioned, the default setup makes it compatible with all TVs out of the box, including old CRT ones. If you do have a HDMI connection to your TV then you need to switch on 'RGB Full Range' and 'Super-white' to take full advantage. This makes the colours vibrant and the images sharp. Its simple and yet many review sites obviously do not bother to do this, as the washed out video proves. If you are going to compare systems please at least set them up correctly in order to give fair representation. It would be like marking down 360 games because they won't play on old CRT TVs.

I would hardly call it a waste of money to buy a superior system for a better price. If my 360 RROD's on me (which it never has in the 2 years i've owned it) then microsoft will replace it for free no big deal. However, YOU have to face the fact that you wasted your money on a $600 piece of sh*t that is supposed to be sooooo great with it's amaaaazzzing cell processor yet every game that has come out on PS3 and 360 has been better on 360. You are just another bitter PS3 owner who doesn't have any good games to play so you come on here and try to make excuses for why your system sucks ass and how you will win the "console war" in the end, it just needs more time. Just keep waiting there buddy....im gonna go play mass effect.

RGB Full?

I don't know how you recorded the PS3 version, but it is seriously washed out. I'm looking at it right now on my PS3 and it's a lot sharper than the video gives it credit for.

PS3 fanboys sound upset ... all kinds of excuses ... all kinds of irrelevant comments. It is time for them to grow up and deal with reality. I have played the demo side by side and the 360 version is a bit better.
It is laughable when "me" wrote the ps3 is a corvette and the 360 is a mustang. Well my corvette stalled and my mustang is zooming down the highway.
That superior ps3 engine is not as superior as you think ... and btw, God of War 2 looks better then some PS3 games as well.

for comparison: the ps3 is a corvette and the x360 is a mustang. For this game they basicly put a 80 year old man(the game makers) to drive the corvette and a teenager to drive the mustang, the x360 version wins because its easier for the teenager(the game makers) to go faster than the old man: meaning the game makers don't bother to take advantage of the ps3's superior engine just making a basic port of the x360 game. Remember God of War 2 (PS2) looks better than some x360 games according to an online article, so that pretty much says it all.......

I'm sure the comparisons are put up to answer the question of "Whats the difference?" asked by a lot of folk with both options. Any issues written about are what the reviewer experiences, which is not always what everyone experiences but you might. So, it is made known to you. Give the guys a break, they're doing their job aren't they?

first of all, the ps3 version obviously isnt playing the way it should show to match 360 version. you have to turn on the full range to FULL and super white on. once you do that, they both will look exactly the same
