The Agency on track for second half of 2011
The PS3 and PC game needed to be better, SOE president John Smedley has explained.
Sony Online Entertainment's PS3 and PC MMO, The Agency, is still very much in development and is planned for release in the second half of 2011, SOE president John Smedley has said.
The game was handed a significant delay, but the extra time was needed, Smedley told Kotaku.
"There was a moment in time in our company where we looked at our own stuff with a clear eye and saw we have to do better," he said.
"DC Universe was held for a year-and-a-half from when we wanted to launch it and now I'm very happy with it."
DC Universe Online had been expected to launch this year, but was assigned an early early 2011 release date back in October.
VideoGamer.com Analysis
2011 looks like being a landmark year for the MMO on PS3, with DC Universe Online, The Agency and Square Enix's Final Fantasy XIV all scheduled for release.
Console MMOs are always a hot topic, but thus far they have been hard to come by and unsuccessful. Perhaps 2011 is the year this all changes.

I'm still not sure on console MMOs though, I don't think console gamers are interested enough in them for there to be enough people in the game to play it. i suppose FFXI and Monster Hunter are the major exceptions, but if it's also coming out on PC then I'd wager most people interested would get it on a PC. Though a console does have the advantage of having the game specifically built for it, so you don't have to worry if your systems can handle it.
