Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath Features for PS3

Stranger's Wrath is included in the current line-up of games offered free of charge on PlayStation Plus, so I thought I'd give it a go to see how the spruced up visuals look. It certainly offers a step up over the original, but for me it's now in a slightly awkward in-between area that is neither current or previous gen. The guys at JAW have done a great job, but I can't help but wish the game world was rendered with lovely next-gen fidelity.

But anyway, this is still the same great game I played on the Xbox back in 2005 and is certainly worth a revisit in HD. If you're yet to play it, it's one of the most original action games ever and proof that first-person shooters don't have to be about pumped up men with assault rifles.

Martin Gaston, Reviews Editor - Battlefield 3, Xbox 360

Played Battlefield 3 again. Shot loads of dudes. Enjoyed it. Scrapyard is by far the best map in the Close Quarters pack. Not a big fan of Ziba Tower. Had a game on Operation Metro the other day I actually enjoyed, which I'm sure is a first.

Quick question, though - are there any official EA servers around, or is the entire game run off servers people are paying to rent now? I haven't seen a single one in months.

Still, good times. It's Double XP this weekend for Premium subscribers, so that's my plan for Sunday afternoon sorted. Cheers DICE.

Neon Kelly, Deputy and Features Editor - Deus Ex: Human Revolution, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

I've been rummaging my way through the Humble Indie Bundle V this week, but for some reason most of my gaming hours have fixated on Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I'm not exactly sure why - I've got lots of half-played or unfinished stuff in my stack from this year, after all - but I suspect that there's simply a particular itch that only this kind of game will scratch. And when all's said and done, there aren't that many of them.

For this, my second proper attempt at a playthrough (assuming I stick with it), I'm going to try for the Pacifist and Foxiest of the Hounds achievements. If any of you forumites have done this already and have any advice to offer, please do post me a tip or two. I'm not particularly optimistic, especially as I'm playing on Hard. Wish me luck!

David Scammell, Staff Writer - FIFA Football, PS Vita

If you read my article earlier in the week about handheld gaming still being socially unacceptable, you'll know that I've been playing a lot more of my Vita on my way in to work. And while I've tried to sink my teeth into Uncharted and Metal Gear HD, the inescapable clutches of FIFA keeps dragging me away from them both. Martin would probably try and tell you that it has something to do with the fact that there are balls in it. But that's because he's a child.

In actual fact, I think it's probably more to do with FIFA fitting the bill of handheld gaming far more neatly than most other Vita titles. While most seem shrunken down console experiences, FIFA's great for playing in bite-size chunks, all while satiating a sense of progression.

I'm currently leading Man Utd's campaign through the Premier League, and Scammell's been putting in a great performance, although the manager's decision to leave him out of bigger games is beginning to frustrate. Where's the fun in playing through the Premier League if I'm forced to skip playing against the biggest teams in the competition, EA?

Scammell may not be up to the task of heading to Kiev with the rest of the boys quite yet, then. But here's hoping the rest of the England team won't be forced to reach for their Vitas on a plane back home tonight.

Regardless of whether it is on the Vita or the PS3, walls are the only thing I tend to hit on Zone mode :)

Don't get me wrong. It plays great. I've just found that on PS3 HD Zone Mode I usually hit somewhere around Subsonic - Mach 1 (never hit Supersonic yet), but on the Vita version I'm only hitting Phantom - Super Phantom speed and find the frame-rate to be the cause. The game doesn't slow down, it just seems as if corners can appear with out you seeing them coming. I think the vita is dropping quite a few frames out to maintain the speed.

But.. A minor complaint to what is otherwise a fantastic package.

Darksiders isn't really my kind of game but all credit to it, it has held my interest for over 13 hours so far.

I am sure one of the criticisms of Wipeout 2048 was the frame rate so doubt the HD DLC keeps the frame rate of the PS3 version, still runs fine for my eyes though.

I agree, Darksiders is great. I also REALLY enjoyed it.

I've just re-purchased Wipeout 2048 and downloaded the HD pack. It's not quite up to the PS3 standards but it does an admirable job. I'm wondering what frame rate its running at. It seems to skip frames when it speeds up.

@Dav: I LOVED Darksiders. In my opinion, a 9.5/10 or even 10/10 game. Perfect in every respect, save for the story which is a bit meh.

On the PS3 I've spent most of my time on Darksiders which I'm quite enjoying. It's certainly not a short game. Rage has had a but of attention to but the delay in drawing textures on the PS3 version is disappointing.

On the Vita I've mainly been playing Gravity Rush which is a splendid game and the Wipeout HD DLC was a very welcome freebie and I've started working my way through that.

I finished Mass Effect 3, and was so bored by the end that I genuinely didn't care what happened during the ending. And I think that is what most people's complaints actually come down to, not that the series ended in a somewhat bizarre fashion, but that everything good about the game was stripped out to be replaced with a dull slog over the finishing line. Multiplayer may be brilliant, but it definitely harmed the single player experience.

Sent it back to Lovefilm, and they sent Lego Batman 2 out in its place. Now, this one I can see being fun all the way through. Plus, I can play it with Benjie, which is always massive bonus.

And then I went and did the rather stupid thing of buying Bejeweled 3 when it was on sale on Steam for £2.99. Stupid, because it WILL suck large tracts of my time away!

Quite a dull weekend, so I had nothing else better to do than play games :)

My main game has been Dragon's Dogma. Lvl48, and I still haven't done half the main quest yet. I've been a Stryder (maxed), an Assassin (maxed) and now a Magic Archer. I'm still very much enjoying this beauty.

Still playing Mass Effect 3 online. A lot less now, but still getting a few Silver and Gold matches in now and then.

Finally, I've been helping my girlfriend play Tomb Raider Anniversary...what a broken, frustrating, bug-riddled pile of poop. Contraversial, but fair as it the laziest HD-update-job I've ever played. I haven't played a game that has frustrated me this much in years. Christ, I nearly broke the joypad and I haven't done that in a very long time.

So many collision mesh bugs, button locking bugs, audio bugs, script event bugs, loading fail bugs...oh my. Did anyone else experience all these bugs on the xbox 360 version of the game? In the space of the first 30 minutes of play, I came across 3 C1 class bugs. In QA terms, a C1 stands for 'Critical' class 1 bug, not fit to publish the game or to pass publishing. Oh, and my best bug of all, is to actually come across a debug screen while loading were it actually showed it's booting sequence to 'fail' its loading process.

Only three games this week. Jumped back into GRID to try and get my last achievement, only doing Demolition Derby as its not so bad when people go the other way round the track.

The Maw which is a fun little game. Should enjoy this till the end.

Ghost Recon I've nearly hit level 5 on all three classes which is my limit without a online pass on my rental. Should pick this us but not till its dirt cheap.
Think I must be at about the mid point of the story which I'm enjoying, should have it done before I have to send it back this week.

I really liked the gameplay look of Assassins Creed 3 on the boat, enough so that it made me want to play through those. I just got AC 2 and have been loving it. I suck with shooters and always will go through collecting every stupid thing so its been perfect for me. And since I got a gamestop gift card I picked up the Lego Pirates game too. Makes for a relaxing time when the pressure of killing gets to me lol.

@Neon: Pacifist achievement is bearable. Foxist Of The Hounds you will claw your eyes out with how many times you'll be reloading a save. There's already tons of walkthroughs online as far as the right powers to upgrade for a super stealthy playthrough, so I won't bother with that. Remember it doesn't matter if a guard spots you right before you stun him, it's only if an alarm is set (if I remember correctly). Also: wallpunch is your friend.

Remember to always check EVERY body you stun to make sure the skull does not appear. Even an accidental push off a building by accident may forfeit the achievement.

If I were you, I'd go for one or the other and not try ti get both in one playthrough. Foxist of the hounds is so much easier when you're not worried about accidentally killing anyone...

100%'d/100% synced Assassin's Creed Revelations the other day. Starting Alan Wake American Nightmare now...
