In2Games has unveiled its new motion controller, the GameTrak Freedom which will be released for next-generation consoles.

The GameTrak Freedom's biggest selling point is that it doesn't rely on the gamer pointing a controller at the screen, nor does it restrict the gamer to a limited set of movements. It combines patented ultrasonic and RF technologies with 3-axis accelerometers to track the absolute position and orientation in 3D space of a range of wireless accessories. Examples include golf clubs, baseball bats, tennis racquets and bowling balls.

The system will ship with a base unit that plugs in to the console via USB and handheld unit. The base will feature two sensor bars which can be attached to the TV or mounted on included stands. The Freedom system will launch with a wide range of games for next-gen platforms.

One of the first titles to make use of the Freedom controller is Squeeballs from Eiconic Games. The game's described as a unique compendium of motion party games that also features single-player challenge ladders.

Squeeballs are very small, cute and cuddly toys that are manufactured on a secret island somewhere in the Pacific. In order to ensure the toys are safe to be sold to children they must be fully tested, sometimes to the point of destruction. It's the players' task to blow up, cook, slice, bat, bowl, shoot and bounce the Squeeballs through over 150 mini-games.

Look out for more info on the GameTrak Freedom and Squeeballs in the coming months.

the major drawback for the wii is the inaccuracy of the controller and the lack of hardware to support the motions in game (like physic interactions). It would be good if games support this (eg; Tiger Woods PGA)

Sweet, so will people stop playing the Wii now? I mean, yes, most Wii fans are 12 year olds, but will they finally abandon the shovelware and kiddiness of their crappy console for a real console? The Wiimote was pretty much the only intuitive thing about the Wii, right?
