Gamers asked to part with $169.99 on November 23.
Harmonix and EA have confirmed that the highly anticipated Rock Band for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will be released in North America on November 23 with a retail price of $169.99.
For their money gamers will get a wired drum kit, guitar and microphone, plus a copy of the game. The Xbox 360's Stratocaster guitar will be wired while the PS3 version will be wireless.
The PlayStation 2 version will be released on December 10 and will retail for $10 less at $159.99. All peripherals and the game will also be sold separately.
There's no word on a UK release or price just yet, but a direct currency conversion puts the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions at approximately £85, so around £100 doesn't seem out of the question.

For £100 you could pick up a second-hand Fender and a small amp, play along to MTV and get gramps to help keep the beat with a pair of spoons. The game probably has greater longevity compared to gramps due to extra download content but that's not really a great selling point.
I can't see a big enough market for this game in the existing playerbases sold as is, I just hope there's an option to buy the game only for the usual £39.99 and hope they've included the control pad as a form of input.
The main saving grace is the launch time, just before Chrimbo. But then factor in that Mass Effect and Haze are both due to be launched on practically the same day and it looks like EA are going to be taking a stage dive into an empty front row.
